Introducing… 3 Pods, 1 Idea (March 2024)

If you see me out and about with headphones on, I’m probably listening to a podcast.

In fact, I spend about 10 hours each week devouring the medium – from unbelievable tales of digital trolls determining high-profile court cases to celebrity- and culture-based cackle-fests hosted by LGBTQ+ icons.

According to recent stats, I’m in good company.

Nearly 26% of people in UK listen to podcasts weekly. And with over 4.3 million registered podcasts out there, waiting to be heard, we’re truly spoiled for choice.

But how do you know what’s worth listening to?

Introducing… 3 Pods, 1 Idea, a monthly round-up of the best podcast episodes I’ve listened to. For each episode, I share the big idea/takeaway so you can judge if it’s for you.

3 pods. 1 idea (each).

The Podcast …
How to become a ‘supercommunicator’ | Life Kit

The Idea …
Intentional, listening conversations – where you consider the other person ahead of time and prioritise ‘why’ questions – lead to deep, authentic connections.

The Podcast …
In the world of medicine, race-based diagnoses are more than skin deep | Code Switch

The Idea …
Biological race is not real, but a clinician’s perception of your sociological race can kill you!

The Podcast …
The tyranny of the algorithm: why every coffee shop looks the same | The Guardian: The Long Read

The Idea
The more we engage with the same bricks-and-mortar content on social media, the duller these bricks-and-mortar businesses become in real life (SEND HELP!).

Also…

I write scripts for podcast episodes.

Here’s a playlist of my work. I’m available – and very interested in doing more script work.
